Jeet Kune Do 40 years - Ted Wong 70 years

This year it was 40 years ago that the name Jeet Kune Do was founded.

At October 28 and 29, 2007 a Bruce Lee Foundation seminar was held in Los Angeles.

Something we couldn't miss, so we took off to LA!

The seminar location was the National Wu Shu Centre.

A great workout space with even an inch thick carpet on the floor. (watch the logo!)

Shannon Lee did welcome everybody at the seminar opening. There were approximately 50-60 participants, mainly from the USA and several martial arts where represented.

George Lee took care of the first part, he told about all the training gear that he had specially developed and made for Bruce. From the (extra thick) Kicking shield up to the many different Nunchakus.

Allen Joe told how he and Bruce worked out with weightlifting and showed the training exercises he used to do with Bruce.

Tommy Gong explained the future plans of the Bruce Lee Foundation, for example the idea to put more info on the Foundation website and make a special search engine to find all kind of info about Bruce.

Also a lot of effort is put into the project to convert film footage into AVI files to be able to spread it through internet, a great idea!

The diner was situated in China Town, in the restaurant where Bruce and Ted have shared a lot of meals together.

Ted became 70 years and that, of course, had to be celebrated!

Ted Wong, our Sifu since 95, time flies by, but Sifu is certainly still as fast as lightning!

Excuse us ladies, at the left the sister of Bruce, at the right the lovely wife of George Lee.

Oke, George Lee can't be lacking!

Yep, always a highlight, at the side of Shannon and Linda Lee!

Tim Tackett explained the foot/leg obstruction and the several ways to punch.
Photo
Comments were given by Bob Bremer and he told also some nice stories about his encounters with Bruce.

Time to go back to the cold Netherlands (LA 30C was better!)

It was great fun again to see everybody from the Foundation. And we did learn again! All the Foundation members are very "open minded" and you can ask them everything, don't be shy!

If you are ever in the opportunity to participate in a BLF seminar, don't hesitate, do it!
Or, of course, see you in our class soon!
